Services Router User Interface Overview
To control the CLI environment, see “Configuring the CLI Environment” o n
page 65. To enter
configuration mode, see “CLI Configuration Mode” on

CLI Configuration Mode
To configu re the Services Router, in clud in g system parameters, routing protocols,
interfaces, network management, and user access, you must enter c onfig uration
mode. In conf
iguration mode, the CLI provides comm ands to configure the
router, loa d a text (A SCII) file that contains the router configuration, activate
a configuration, and save the configuration to a text file.
You enter configuration mode by en te ring the
configure operational mode
command. Th
e CLI prompt changes from
user@host> to us er@host#.

The JUNOS software configuration consists of a hierarchy of statements.Thereare
two types of stat
ements: container statements, which contain other statements,
and leaf statements, which do not contain other statements. All the container
and leaf statements together form the configu ration hierarchy.
Each statement consists of a fixed keyword and, optionally, an identifier that
you define, suc
h as the name of an interface or a username.
